Attention: New GS1 Check in Belgium – Are You Still Uploading Your Labels Correctly?
Since April 2025, a major change has taken effect: GS1 Belgium, the organization responsible for clear agreements on product information, has introduced a stricter audit program. Under this new program, all new products added to My Product Manager (GS1’s platform for product information) and intended for the Belgian market are automatically checked for their label information.
Even brands working with a certified Data Management Service (DMS), such as XXtract, are not exempt from this control.
What does this mean for you?
1. No more exemptions
GS1 Belgium now audits products submitted through certified DMS providers like XXtract. This means all Belgian products from all suppliers are subject to audit.
2. Automatic audit trigger upon publication
As soon as XXtract publishes a new product to My Product Manager, an audit request is automatically triggered.
3. Audit list visibility
You can easily view which of your products are on the audit list within My Product Manager.
What do we need from you to keep the process running smoothly?
1. Let us know which products are on the audit list
You can check in My Product Manager which of your products have been selected for review.
2. Do not upload the label yourself (yet)
Please hold off on uploading the label. First, we want to check whether we already have the correct label and if all information is accurately and completely registered.
If you upload it before we’ve verified it, there’s a high risk of rejection.
3. We check the label for you
We ensure that the full label is available and compliant with the guidelines. For products on the Belgian market, a bilingual label (Dutch and French) is mandatory.
4. Only upload the label after our confirmation
Once everything is in order, you’ll receive a confirmation from us. Only then should you upload the label to My Product Manager to initiate the audit.
What if a product gets rejected?
Audit results are visible via My Product Manager.If a product is rejected, please contact us. We’ll review the result with you and, if needed, coordinate with GS1 Belgium for a fast resolution.
